♻️ CRV Explained

  • What Is the California Redemption Value (CRV)?

CRV stands for California Redemption Value — it’s the small deposit you pay when you buy certain beverages in California, and the amount you can get back when you recycle the empty container.
It’s California’s way of encouraging everyone to recycle more and reduce waste going to landfills.

  • 💰 How It Works

  1. You buy a drink — water, soda, juice, or other beverage.

    • You pay an extra 5¢ for containers under 24 oz

    • Or 10¢ for containers 24 oz and larger

  2. You bring back your empties — aluminum cans, glass bottles, or plastic bottles marked with “CA CRV.”

  3. You get your money back — either at a recycling center or through programs like ours that make it easier for you to redeem locally.
